The president, as you well know by now, has imposed a ban on Muslims entering the United States. Such an outlandish policy has prompted Trump’s backers to resort to even more outlandish methods of defending why they’ve placed themselves in Trump’s camp.
On that note, CNN‘s Poppy Harlow hosted on her show this Saturday Trump adviser and former U.S. Representative Jack Kingston, who supports Trump — and his Muslim ban. Harlow asked Kingston, basically, to defend to her, and to the audience watching at home, the immigration ban that amounts to a likely illegal religious test over who’s allowed into the United States and who’s not.
Kingston couldn’t do it, instead resorting to lies that prompted Harlow to immediately shut him down, live on-air, for the sake of not allowing his lying to go unchecked.
She initially asked him, quite simply, “What data can you point to that justifies that these seven nations have a tie to U.S. terror attacks or a higher incidence of bringing terror to this country?”
Kingston began to babble on and on, initially deflecting from the proposed question, instead suggesting that the ban is justified because the nations that are targeted “don’t really have a standard that would preclude enemies of the United States from emigrating here.”
Such a statement is not data, as Harlow asked Kingston for. It’s pure, racist conjecture.
